London, England
Wombat’s City Hostel London: 8.5/10
I have stayed here multiple times. I like the location. Right near tower of London and Tower bridge. Easy to get the tube to other parts of the city. The bar area is very nice and is a good place to meet people. The rooms themselves are ok. Not bad but not great. And the washing machines and dryers all seemed to be broken the last time I was there. The washer drenched my clothes making them very difficult to dry.
Nice, France
Antares Hostel: 9.1/10
This was my first hostel at the start of a solo trip, and I had a really great time. It is less than 2 minutes from the train station, which is perfect for arriving and leaving but also for day trips around the South of France or to Monaco! There is free wine some nights and some breakfast in the morning, which is good for meeting people. The rooms were nice as well. I really enjoyed my time here and would recommend it to a solo female traveler.
Marseille, France
Vertigo Vieux-Port: 7.7/10
I was only here for one night, but overall the hostel was ok. It was a good crash pad for the night I was there before flying out. The hostel is in a safer area of Marseille (I believe), and I felt safe in the hostel, but was somewhat nervous to go out on my own. The staff was really nice. The kitchen does not have the best equipment, but it’s a good place to meet people. I think if you are spending one or two nights in Marseille, this hostel is an ok option.
Corfu, Greece
The Pink Palace Hotel & Hostel: 7.4/10
I think this is a great hostel for 2 or 3 nights, but not much more than that. I found it hard to meet people as a solo traveler. The hostel advertises many events and activities, but a lot of them were not even offered during my time there. I was there for 5 nights and found myself bored. The actual town of Corfu is about a 40-minute bus ride away. If you are looking for a beach getaway with friends, this is the place, but I can’t say I recommend it for a solo traveler. Oh also be prepared for a lot of stairs!
